 The first steak, in Bordeaux

Endless love for French cheese on crackers

 The house in Retaud

Day 2:
Breakfast at the outdoor table consisted of fresh pastry, a french skinny baguette, tea & coffee, yoghurts, fruit, cheeses & hams, and who could forget, Nesquik

Sophie's Swimsuit - Zara (sale) / My swimsuit - Topshop

A day spent lounging on the sand, swimming, renting bikes and cycling by the sea at Plage de la Palmyre

Day 3:
Punnets of fresh strawberries at a traditional French market

Sophie, looking striking as ever, in a Stradivarius jumpsuit we found in Bordeaux. French movie actress of the future, I think?

Another beach visit, this time to Mescher Sur Gironde

Sophie and I climbed up a very tall rock formation that had the most incredible views overlooking the sea.

Shirt - Kate & Aud Vintage (recycled Sari) at Isle of Wight festival / Culottes - &OtherStories

VERY excited for my moules frites...

Day 4:
 The last breakfast outside (*sobs*)

On our last day, we visited a beautiful little town that I completely fell in love with: Mornac Sur Seudre

'Ca Nouse Plait' - it pleases us
Denim playsuit - Boden / Bag - Furla

 Chocolat Viennois

The last crepe of the trip - and probably the most beautiful crepe I've ever had!

I've never really been much of a fan of France. As a child, I was used to visiting Spain/Catalunya with my family on a regular basis as most visits to France had never really been pleasant. I really wanted to change my outlook on this country, and this Summer I had the chance to do so as I'd been invited to stay with one of my closest friend's family.
I now see France from a completely different point of view. I had such an incredible time, and was caught saying "I feel so French" on a daily basis (hehem, a.k.a four to five times a day at a minimum...).
We stayed in a rustic house near a small village called Retaud, and visited many places that were half an hour/an hour's drive away, including the beautiful city of Bordeaux. We went to beaches, little towns, cycled by the sea and ate plenty of incredible French food while we were there (hello, p'tit basque <3) and when it was time to leave, it was really hard to say goodbye to this country that I had suddenly fallen in love with.
I strongly recommend visiting this region of France if you can - the people are friendly and helpful, the scenery is stunning, and what more can I say - I had an utterly wonderful time.
