River Denim

A morning trip to Artisan (Stamford Brook), my favourite coffee shop

Lunch at The Rutland Arms pub in Hammersmith

Coat - Joules
Cropped Jumper - Topshop
Denim Culottes - Topshop (sale, £4, complete and utter bargain and a half!)
Boots - Russell and Bromley

 Bag - Furla

If you haven't already noticed, I have a few obsessions. These include my love of river walks, and ofcourse, culottes. I'm turning into more and more of a culotte fanatic at this point, and just when I thought I was going to try and sort out my problem, uh-oh, I find a pair of denim culottes in the Topshop sale, last pair, my size, £4. Ofcourse, the obsession was reignited.

I paired these denim, frayed culottes with a cropped breton jumper, also from Topshop, and a navy coat, creating a sort-of sailor inspired vibe. Needless to say, it was the perfect opportunity to take  a couple photo's with boats...

It was a relatively mild day, perfect culotte weather, so my boyfriend Alex and I ventured on a relaxing walk by the river towards Hammersmith Bridge. Cloudy though it was, it was a lovely day. We stopped off at the Rutland Arms for a spot-o' classic pub lunch (I had bangers and mash, obviously, another obsession).

Let me know what you're current style obsessions are - do you love culottes too?

In the Navy

 Jumper - Nicole Farhi
Culottes - Whistles
Boots - Russell and Bromley
Bag - Furla

 Coat - Joules

I don't really know why I was half smiling half laughing here...

So, I really love navy blue. Any blue hue, usually, but navy is by far one of my favourite colours. I tend to lean more towards it than black even, as I feel it compliments me better.
These culottes are sort-of the star piece in this outfit. I bought theme a while back in Whistles in the sale for 50% off, little did I know that they would continue to be in the sale and drop down to the price of £15 - which is an absolute BARGAIN for Whistles! (If you like them, I suggest you go find them now while you can). They are super comfy and floaty, and fall at the perfect culotte length for me (I am a measly 5'2 so for anyone taller, they'd be quite a bit shorter). They have a wonderful casual structure to them, and can be worn on the waist or on the hips (I went for hips today). I paired them with this navy bamboo-cashmere jumper from Nicole Farhi which I bought in a Warehouse discount sale for £30 reduced from £150 (how fab?), it's got such a gorgeous thin texture, but it still manages to keep me very warm, especially during this particularly chilly part of the year. To top it all off, I added this navy coat that I've had for years from Joules. I think my navy-blue obsession has reached it's boiling point...

Chief

So, if you know me well enough, you will know that I am a SERIOUS coffee lover.

 A latte and a cappuccino

 My beloved on-the-go vanilla syrup...

The stairs leading down to the pinball lounge

My favourite piece by artist Martin Sharp

The beautiful sky overlooking Turnham Green Terrace

There are quite a few coffee shops in London that I am a lover of. Somehow, most of them have all ended up being in Chiswick. Chiswick is a great part of London if you're a coffee lover - there are quite a few of the pesky chains (e.g. Starbucks) dotted around, but there are also a few genuinely brilliant new coffee spots. Chief, has become a firm favourite.

As well as being in a low-key area (a.k.a one of the dead ends off Turnham Green Terrace), the coffee shop also has a low-key industrial vibe. The exposed brick walls and mis-matched geometric chairs add to the really cool statement, already bustling spot in Chiswick.
As well as having a fab selection of home-bakes, sandwiches and, wait for it, CRODOUGHS (aka a cross between a croissant and a donut), this place serves up some very good quality coffee. Chief uses Workshop beans for the majority of their caffeinated drinks (they used to use Alchemy, another favourite of mine), and their ice-latte is seriously to DIE for. Sadly, due to this weather, I had to stick to a regular latte, but that was just fine and dandy for me!

I know what you're thinking, but what makes this place more special than the others? Ah, well here is your answer: Chief is not just a regular coffee shop. It is also, *holds breath*... a pinball lounge! Yes, the basement to Chief holds 6 (I think) pinball machines. It's safe to say that this coffee shop is addictive to go to in more ways than one!

Let me know if you like this coffee shop review and if you want me to do anymore :)

New Year, New Haul

I've been acquiring quite a few new bits n' bobs over the last couple of weeks, but since the New Year, I've gone a little bit mental on the shopping side, mainly due to the sales. So, I thought I would do my first ever blog haul - let me know if you like this format!

1. Oliver Bonas

1. Notepad (£3.50 in the sale)
2. Letter Stickers (£3.50 in the sale)
3. 'K' Letter passport case (£6 in the sale)
4. Pink geometric vase (£3.50 in the sale)

2. Mish-Mash

1. Bumble and Bumble "The Surf Set" (£14.66 in the sale, Boots)
2. Silver and Gold metallic pens (Paperchase, £4 each)
3. Nail Polishes Barry M (Boots)
4. Sale Postcards (Paperchase, 35p each)
5. 2016 Diary (Paperchase, £6.50)

3. Boots Buys

 1. The Bumble and Bumble Surf set included a mini Surf foam wash and conditioner, and a full size Surf Spray, for £14.66 - amazing considering the full price for the surf spray alone is £23.

These two Barry M nail-polishes are SO GORGEOUS!
1. Barry M matte nail paint in 'Vanilla'
2. Barry M glitter nail paint in 'Fashion Icon'

So, this is "Blobby", my new friend...
I've always been a huge fan of the Fendi 'monsters', but this little teal coloured fluffy thing in the Topshop sale (£5) was a little more in my budget, and it had to come home with me.

By far the biggest buy in my 'haul'...
I'd been searching, and searching, for the perfect pair of black suede courts for a VERY long time, but somehow no style or cut seemed to fit my feet properly. They were always way too long, or way too tight, annoying as I have relatively wide, but not very long, feet. Then, on a random pop into Russell and Bromley, I found this pair - Perfect heel height, gorgeous long pointed toe, with a great vamp cut. I tried them on, and it was quite literally like destiny: they were the perfect fit! They were designed by my all-time favourite shoe designer, Stuart Weitzman. My experience with Stuart Weitzman heels is like no other - they're beautiful, cut well and incredibley comfortable. This was the last pair left of these particular shoes as they were left over from the previous sale, so the price was... £75, which is CHEAP for Stuart Weitzman, especially considering the original price was give or take £250. I knew that for a pair of shoes like these, I didn't want to skimp on quality. Yes, they were pricier than some in, say, Office or Topshop, but not by much to be fair, and these were made with much finer materials, so I know they'll last me longer than most. I can't express just how unbelievably happy I am - black courts are such a simple way to add class and a tiny bit of height to any outfit, and I'm so excited to style them up in future outfit posts!

Clothing

I'd been in need for a few pairs of new jeans lately, as most of my old favourite's were starting to fade and tear here and there. As a mild replacement for my love-of-my-life jeans (my vintage Levi 501's), I nabbed these Asos girlfriend jeans for £11 online in the sale. What a bargain! Although they had run out of my size, so I had to purchase them in the size up. I didn't realise quite how baggy they were going to be - they fit more like boyfriend jeans now, but as they're so soft and comfortable, and they were only 11 quid, I thought, why not just keep them? And I'm glad I did. Nab them now while/if you can!

I also nabbed this pair of ankle-grazer, side-zip Topshop Jamie jeans, as I was in desperate need of a new pair of skinny jeans! They were a little pricier than I'd wanted to pay for a sale item (although they were £25), but they were the last pair left, and were in my exact waist size and leg length. They're super soft and comfy, fit like a glove and the high waist makes them fit even better.

p.s. I also managed to find a pair of white Topshop Leigh jeans in the sale for a fiver! Crazy bargain!

And last, but certainly not least, this Whistles denim jacket.

I'm sure that anybody who knows me well enough can vouch that I am a Whistles fanatic - especially if there's a sale. I somehow managed to find this gorgeous, indigo denim jacket in the sale in a size 8... for only £20! WHAT?! I know, mental, and I just couldn't resist - a bargain like that is insane for Whistles, especially considering the original price was £95! I haven't had a chance to snap up any photos of it yet (the one above is a similar one from online, but my one doesn't have the orangey-brown stitching, it's much more raw)
I highly recommend checking out some of the Whistles stores for some of the final reduction sale items (online's not nearly as good) as I even managed to find the pair of linen culottes that I bought for half price (£42) reduced all the way down to £15...! INSANE!

So, I hope you guys enjoyed this haul segment. Let me know if you'd like me to do more posts like this in the future!

The Poet Blouse

Coat - Banana Republic
Blouse - Topshop
Jeans - Tommy Hillfigger
Boots - Russell and Bromley
Bag - Furla

So I'm a little bit obsessed with this blouse from Topshop. I'd been lusting for it for a long while, but because of the price, I was slightly put off. Until I found the only remaining one, in my size, in the 'Last Chance to Buy' section of a small Topshop in London. Needless to say, I nabbed it. It's the perfect combination of 1970's meets Shakespeare chic, floaty and relaxed - so basically it's just perfect and that's it...
I usually put this blouse with a pair of flares, but I felt like toning down the 70's vibes with a pair of skinny jeans and a pink coat, to add a bit more modern flare.
